Instructions for use
Intended Use, Product Description and Mate-
rial Information
Ostomy pouches are used to collect waste from
the body and are usually attached to the skin over
a surgically made stoma.
Zensiv Ostomy products are a range of 1-piece
and 2-piece ostomy pouches and 2-piece flanges
in various sizes and shapes.
All 1-piece pouches and 2-piece flanges feature
a skin friendly hydrocolloid wafer for adhesion to
the body and this is protected before use with a
release film that shows a cutting guide.
The product pouch is manufactured from odour
barrier film with a comfort non-woven layer and a
carbon filter for odour control ( for ileostomy and
colostomy).
Ileostomy pouches have either a roll up drain
port secured with an integral ‘velcro’ type closure
or there are clamps and soft ties supplied in
each box.
For urostomy the pouches carry a soft polymer
tap for easy drainage.
All pouches have a viewing window to inspect the
stoma if needed.
Some ranges feature a vent with lid for venting
the pouch if required.
All ZenSiv Ostomy products are latex-free and do
not contain ingredients of animal origin.
The products are non-sterile and can be used in
any appropriate circumstances where the atten-
ding physician or healthcare professional decides
a non-sterile product may be applied.

3. Read the instructions prior to use.
4. Discontinue use and contact your
healthcare professional if you
experience any allergic reactions or
problems when using the pouches.

Shelf Life
Use by the expiry date noted on the label
Collect your materials
Make sure that all necessary materials are ready
for use. Collect a measuring guide, a pair of
scissors, a pen, wet and dry gauze and a stoma
pouch and flange.
Choose the right size
Measure your stoma with a measuring guide
and cut (if necessary) the flange to the right
size of the stoma. Make sure that you choose
the right size so that the stoma and surroun-
ding skin will stay healthy. Allow a maximum of
2 mm of space between your stoma and flange
for a safe and correct fit. If the size is too big,
your faeces will damage the skin. If the size is
too small, the flange will damage the stoma.
Over time your stoma may change shape or
size, so periodically measurements may be
required again to prevent any leakage.
Prepare your skin
Support the skin and remove the flange carefu-
lly, do not tear off but push the skin back from
the flange, use a wet gauze if necessary. Wash
the skin surrounding your stoma with warm
and unperfumed water. Do not use anything
that contains alcohol, perfume or ether to clean
your skin as it can cause damage. Do not rub
the skin too hard as this might lead to skin
damage. Dry the skin carefully and thoroughly
to ensure that your pouch adheres well.
Optional: If your skin is irritated and sore
you can use skin barrier cream, hydrocolloid
powder or skin barrier wipes. Apply the pow-
der, skin barrier cream or wipe gently to the
surrounding skin.
Close the outlet
First make sure that the clamp or ‘velcro’ type
closure is closed safely.
For the clamp: Place the clamp at the tail of
the pouch. Fold the end of the tail once over
the clamp and make sure that the film of the
tail is smooth to ensure that the outlet tail is in
the right position and press the clamp firmly.
Clamps are reusable.
For the metal wire strips: Take the release film
from the metal wire strip. Stick the metal wire
strip onto the tail of the pouch. Roll-up the tail
of the pouch. Fold the metal wire on both sides
so that the tail of the pouch stays rolled-up.
For the Velcro closure: Roll-up the tail of the
pouch until the two ‘velcro’ type pieces are
touching each other. Press the ‘velcro’ type
pieces onto each other firmly.
Fit your base plate
Remove the release paper of the base plate.
Stretch the skin of your abdomen with a flat
hand and place the base plate over your stoma
into the right position (start at the bottom and
work your way to the top). Work your fingers
around the base plate so that the hydrocolloid
bonds well onto the skin and make sure that
the plate is secure.
Apply your pouch
Take your pouch and click the pouch onto the
ring of base plate. Work your way from the
bottom to the top of the ring. Make sure that
your pouch is secure and control the complete
seal of the pouch with your fingers.
Empty your pouch
Lift up the tail of the pouch and open the
bag. Empty the contents of your pouch into
the toilet.
Vent
If the pouch is full of gasses (ballooning) or if there
is no air in the pouch (a vacuum) the vent can be
used to let air in or out of the pouch. Make sure
that the pouch is not full of faeces when opening
the vent. If the pouch is full then empty the pouch
or change it for a fresh one.
The vent can be opened by taking off the lid.
Carefully close the lid after venting.
Viewing window
The ostomy pouch includes a viewing window
which makes it possible to inspect the stoma as
well as the output from the stoma. It is also very
helpful when applying the pouch to make sure it is
located correctly over the stoma. Lift up the non-
-woven of the viewing window for inspection.
Disposal of your pouch
Remove your pouch and dispose of it in the trash.
Do not flush your used pouch down the toilet
because this will block your sewage system.
Frequency of pouch change
Change/empty your pouch as advised by your
healthcare professional.
