2 INSTRUMENT DESCRIPTION
2.1 Intended Use
Product name: DirectFRAP imaging system
The DirectFRAP imaging system is an extension unit for Axio Observer and is used for microscopic
analyses of dynamic processes within living cells by short-term local laser radiation with wavelengths from
405 nm to 640 nm.
The DirectFRAP imaging system should be used only in combination with the following microscope
stands:
Axio Observer.Z1

The laser bench tower or rack (see configuration options, section 2.4 on page 29) may be
combined with the laser manipulation imaging system only in connection with the basic laser
safety kit for the Axio Observer.Z1 (432927-9011-000).
Use the DirectFRAP imaging system only together with class 3B laser modules of up to a
maximum total output power of 500 mW.
