Field conversion of

air discharge

Overview:

Horizontal units can

be field converted between
side (straight) and end (back)
discharge using the instructions
below.

Preparation:

It is best to field

convert the unit on the ground
before hanging. If the unit is
already hung it should be taken
down for field conversion.

Side-to-end discharge
conversion:

Place unit in well lit area.
Remove the screws as shown
in Figure 5 to free service
access and discharge panels.

Remove blower motor service
access panel and set aside
(side or end).

Unplug blower motor at quick
disconnect.

Lift and rotate the discharge
panel to the desired position.

The supply air duct height will
change slightly to allow blower/
motor serviceability.

Reconnect blower motor at
quick disconnect.

Check blower wiring and
connections for tension or
contact with sheet metal
edges. Re-route and secure
if necessary.

Manually spin the fan wheel
to ensure that the wheel is not
rubbing or obstructed.

Reinstall service access panel.

Reinstall screws (note: the
location for some screws will
have changed).

Conversion should resemble
Figure 5 or Figure 6 for left or
right return, respectively.

End-to-side discharge
conversion:

If the discharge is

changed from end to side, use
above instruction noting that
illustrations will be reversed.

Left vs. right return:

It is not

possible to field convert return
air between left and right return.
However, the conversion process
of side to end or end to side
discharge for either right or left
return configuration is the same.
