ALWAYS INSTALL THE UNIT WITH A SLOPE OF ABOUT 8mm TOWARDS THE
CONDENSATE DRAIN SIDE.
6.5 WATER CONNECTIONS
For the hydraulic connections of the fan coil, use only suitable material and follow
the prescriptions of the system (project and rules of the Country of installation).
Female thread water connections of 1/2” are used on all YORK fan coil units. Unless other-
wise specified by the customer, these connections are located on the right side of the unit
(as viewed from the front when the fan coil has been installed).
To facilitate installation and maintenance, we recommend
that shut-off valves be installed on the intake and outlet
pipes (see Fig. 2, Enclosure 4 of this manual).
If the unit has been provided with valves, the flow
direction printed on the body valves must be re-
spected.
On the inner side of the unit, an antitorsion structure near
the coil connections avoids the headers deformation while
connecting the unit to the system. It is recommended to pay
attention not to exert excessive force when tightening the
connections and
eventually to use double spanners, to avoid an overtightening
and irreparable damage to the coil.
The coils are provided with an air vent, accessible
by using a screwdriver trough the holes on the side of the inner frame.
In case of operation of the unit in «cooling» mode, YORK recommends to oper-
ate as follows:
•
Install an electric valve (optional supplied on request), which interrupts the cold water
flow to the heat exchanger when the unit is inoperative;
•
Execute a proper insulation of valves, pipes and connection fittings of the fan coil to
the system;
•
Foresee a suitable water condensate drainage system, duly slanting, and check the
proper downflow. For the concealed horizontal units, an auxiliary drain pan is installed
near the hydraulic connections.
When finishing the fan coil installation phase, check that the unit has been
properly fixed and, with the aid of a spirit level, verify that the vertical and
horizontal conditions are complied with, accordingly to the type of installation.
Make sure the water condensate is properly discharged.
