Keep wires and power cords away from the cutting area.
Power cords or cables can be hidden in hedges or bushes and can
be accidentally cut by the blade.
Do not use hedge trimmers in poor weather conditions, especially if there is a risk of lightning.
This avoids the risk of
being struck by lightning.
PRODUCT OPERATION
Preparing the trimmer for use
Caution! Disconnect the tool from the power supply before performing any assembly and adjustment work. In the case of
mains-powered trimmer, disconnect it from the socket, and for battery-powered tools – disconnect their batteries.
Before
fi
rst use, the cover/screen must be
fi
tted. The cover should be slid into the housing guides and then
fi
xed with screws (II).
Visually inspect the tool. If any damage is discovered, do not commence work before removing it. Slide the guard o
ff
the blades
and check for damage.
Preparing the workplace
Before commencing work, prepare the workplace. Designate a safety zone around the work area where bystanders will not have
access. Ensure that there are no obstacles around the workplace which could cause the operator or the trimmer to collide during
work.
Adjusting the position of the rear handle (III)
The rear handle can be turned to
right or left. To rotate the rear handle, disconnect the batteries, then press and hold the rear
handle angle adjustment button, rotate the handle to the right or left, release the button. By rotating the handle after releasing
the angle adjustment button, it will lock into one of the basic positions. Each of the positions in which the handle can be locked is
marked on the scale.
Caution! Before starting work, ensure that the handle does not move and is locked in the set position.
Connecting the trimmer to the power supply (IV)
The tool is powered by two batteries. It will not start if one of the batteries is not installed in the tool or is
fl
at. The batteries in the
tool are connected in series, which means that the tool is supplied with the sum of their rated voltages. It is recommended that
both batteries have the same capacity and are charged to the same level. The batteries used to supply the tool should also have
the same level of wear. It is not recommended to connect a
fl
at battery with a new one, even if both batteries are charged to the
same level and have the same capacity. Failure to comply with the above recommendations will result in shorter operating times
and faster wear of the batteries used to supply the tool.
Slide the battery into one of the seats so that its latch is outside the seat. Slide the battery into the seat until the latch engages.
Repeat for the second battery. Make sure that the batteries will not disconnect on its own during operation. Disconnect the battery
by pressing and holding the latch and then pulling the battery out of the seat.
Only the following 18V Li-Ion YATO batteries can be used to power the tool: YT-82842, YT-82843, YT-82844 and YT-82845, which
can only be charged with YATO YT-82848 or YT-82849 chargers. It is forbidden to use other batteries with a di
ff
erent rated voltage
and not matching the tool battery socket. It is forbidden to modify the socket or battery to make them match.
Starting and stopping the trimmer
Ensure that the battery is connected to the trimmer and that there is no guard on the blades and that the blades do not come into
contact with any part of the body or other objects. Keep posture which guarantees balance. Switch on the trimmer by pressing the
power switch button. The lights indicating the approximate state of charge of the batteries will light up: green - battery charged,
orange - battery partially charged, red - battery needs charging. Grasp the front handle with one hand and press the electric switch
lock. Grasp the rear handle with the other hand. Pressing the switch will activate the trimmer. Keep the on/o
ff
switch lock and the
on/o
ff
switch depressed at all times during operation. The trimmer stops when the pressure on the power switch is released. The
trimmer will also stop when the pressure on the switch lock is released, but in this case the blades remain in motion for longer.
Once the trimmer movement has come to a complete stop, disconnect it from the power supply by disconnecting the batteries.
Next, proceed with maintenance.
Working with the trimmer
Do not allow the device to operate at low speed or during start-up. The most e
ff
ective work is if the cutting is done in full wide
movements. For greater e
ffi
ciency, the trimmer can be tilted at an angle of 5-10° in the cutting direction (V). To achieve an even
single hedge height, you can use
fi
shing line stretched along the cutting line. Cut the part of the hedge above the line. Vertical
cutting of the hedge is possible. It is advisable to cut in a curved motion from bottom to top and then from top to bottom to use
both sides of the blades (VI).
