• We recommend setting the [EQ] sliders to their central posi-
tions and adj u sting the o v erall tone u sing the key b oard ampli-
fier. This approach pro v ides the maxim u m adj u sta b le range
sho u ld yo u need to change the tone d u ring yo u r performance.
• We recommend that yo u t u rn the So u nd Boost f u nction on.
This f u nction b oosts the presence of yo u r instr u ment so that
the entire a u dience can clearly hear not only notes played v ery
lo u d, bu t also those played soft. Yo u can choose from three dif-
ferent types of so u nd b oost. (See page 18.)

Check your settings.
Once turned on, ensure that your digital piano is set up
as follows.
• A u to Power-Off f u nction disa b led (page 10)
• Foot switch operating correctly as a s u stain pedal (page 11)
• B u ilt-in speakers t u rned off if yo u do not need to hear them
(page 44)

Lock the control panel to prevent mistakes.
Your digital piano’s Panel Lock function allows you to
temporarily disable control-panel buttons to prevent
them being operated unintentionally while perform-
ing. To activate this function, press the [EFFECT] and
[SOUND BOOST] buttons together. Note that the fol-
lowing will continue to operate normally when the
control panel is locked.

Performing
When playing live, relax and try to listen to the overall
sound of your performance so that you can make
small adjustments if necessary. For example, you
could use the [MASTER VOLUME] slider to keep the
vocal and digital-piano volumes well balanced.

Other Convenient Functions
Thanks to its digital design, the P-255 offers a range of

Dual mode: Two layered Voices
Using D u al mode, each key can sim u ltaneo u sly prod u ce
the so u nd of two different Voices. (See page 14.)
Split mode: One Voice for the left, another for the right
Yo u r digital piano’s Split mode lets yo u di v ide the key-
b oard at a freely selecta b le point and assign different
Voices to the left and right sides. (See page 14.)
Transpose
Using the Transpose f u nction, yo u can shift the pitch of
key b oard notes u p or down in semitone u nits. This allows
yo u to change key witho u t ha v ing to change what yo u
act u ally play on the key b oard. (See page 16.)
Touch sensitivity
Yo u r digital piano’s to u ch sensiti v ity f u nction allows yo u to
adj u st the degree to which changes in the strength of
yo u r playing are reflected in the so u nd prod u ced. (See
page 45.)
Rhythm tracks
Playing along with one of the many rhythm tracks pro-
v ided is almost like ha v ing yo u r own pri v ate b and. (See

Reverb
Adding re v er b to yo u r so u nd is a great way to create a
rich sense of depth and space. (See page 15.)
Effects
The digital piano’s Effect f u nction can enhance yo u r
so u nd in v ario u s different ways for more expressi v e per-

Playing along with a recording
If yo u ha v e created a song b y recording yo u rself playing,
yo u can then play along with that song as an accompani-
ment. (See page 21.)
Music input from an audio player
With an a u dio player connected to yo u r digital piano, yo u
can play along with yo u r fa v orite t u nes or add b acking
tracks or effect so u nds to yo u r li v e performances. (See

Extensive MIDI and computer support
Yo u r digital piano can b e easily integrated with other MIDI
