REMOVING THE REAR WHEEL
1. Stand the vehicle on a level surface.
WARNING
EWA13120
Securely support the vehicle so that there is
no danger of it falling over.
NOTE:
Place the vehicle on the centerstand so that the
rear wheel is elevated.
2. Remove:
• Rear wheel sensor
• Rear wheel axle nut
• Brake torque rod
• Rear wheel axle
• Rear brake caliper
• Rear wheel
• Rear wheel sensor housing
CAUTION:
EC3P61024
• Be sure not to contact the sensor electrode
to any metal part when removing the rear
wheel sensor from the sensor housing.
• Do not operate the brake pedal when re-
moving the brake caliper.
NOTE:
Move the rear wheel to the right to separate it
from the final drive assembly.

DISASSEMBLING THE REAR WHEEL
1. Remove:
• Oil seals
• Wheel bearings
Refer to “DISASSEMBLING THE FRONT
WHEEL” on page 4-15.

CHECKING THE REAR WHEEL
1. Check:
• Rear wheel axle
• Rear wheel
• Wheel bearings
• Oil seals
Refer to “CHECKING THE FRONT WHEEL”
on page 4-15.
2. Check:
• Tire
• Rear wheel
Damage/wear
→
Replace.
Refer to “CHECKING THE TIRES” on page
3-32 and “CHECKING THE WHEELS” on
page 3-34.
3. Measure:
• Radial wheel runout
• Lateral wheel runout
Refer to “CHECKING THE FRONT WHEEL”
on page 4-15.

MAINTENANCE OF THE REAR WHEEL
SENSOR AND SENSOR ROTOR
CAUTION:
EC3P61032
• Handle the ABS components with care
since they have been accurately adjusted.
Keep them away from dirt and do not sub-
ject them to shocks.
• The rear wheel sensor cannot be disassem-
bled. Do not attempt to disassemble it. If
faulty, replace with a new one.
1. Check:
• Rear wheel sensor

on page 4-16.
2. Measure:
• Rear wheel sensor resistance
Refer to “MAINTENANCE OF THE FRONT
WHEEL SENSOR AND SENSOR ROTOR”
on page 4-16.
3. Check:
• Rear wheel sensor rotor
Refer to “MAINTENANCE OF THE FRONT
WHEEL SENSOR AND SENSOR ROTOR”
on page 4-16.

ASSEMBLING THE REAR WHEEL
1. Install:
• Bearing “1”
Radial wheel runout limit
1.0 mm (0.04 in)
Lateral wheel runout limit
0.5 mm (0.02 in)
Installed depth of bearing “a”
3.5–4.5 mm (0.14–0.18 in)
