Operation

71

2.

Slightly tilt the outboard motor up to the
desired position using the power trim
and tilt switch.

WARNING! Using the

power trim and tilt switch on the bot-
tom cowling while the boat is moving
or engine is on could increase the risk
of falling overboard and could distract
the operator, increasing the risk of
collision with another boat or an ob-
stacle.

 [EWM01851]

3.

To return the outboard motor to the nor-
mal running position, press the power
trim and tilt switch and slowly tilt the out-
board motor down.

Cruising in other conditions

Cruising in salt water

After operating in salt water, flush the cooling
water passages with fresh water to prevent
them from becoming clogged. Also rinse the
outside of the outboard motor with fresh wa-
ter.

Cruising in muddy, turbid, or acidic water

Yamaha strongly recommends that you use
the optional chromium-plated water pump kit
(see page 21) if you use the outboard motor
in acidic water or water with a lot of sediment
in it, such as muddy or turbid (cloudy) water.
After operating in such water, flush the cool-
ing passages with fresh water to prevent cor-
rosion. Also rinse the outside of the outboard
motor with fresh water.
