Drive shaft  and lower case

Assembling the oil seal housing

1.

Apply grease to new oil seals, and then
install them into the oil seal housing.

Assembling the lower case

1.

Install the needle bearing into the lower
case to the specified depth.

NOTE:

Install the needle bearing with the manufac-
ture identification mark 

a

facing up.

Be careful not to let the stopper 

b

get out

of position when using the driver rod SL.

2.

Install the sleeve, original shim(s), and
drive shaft bearing outer race.

Add or remove shim(s), if necessary, if
replacing the pinion or lower case.

NOTE:

Apply gear oil to the inside and outside of
the sleeve before installation.

Install the sleeve with the projection
