Congratulations on the purchase of your Yaesu amateur
transceiver
, f this is your ¿ rst rig, or if Yaesu e T uipment
is already the backbone of your station, rest assured
your transceiver will provide many hours of operating
pleasure for years to come.

1200 is an elite-class HF transceiver provid-
ing exceptional performance both on transmit and re-
ceive. The
FT
DX
1200 is designed for the most competi-
tive operating situations, whether you primarily operate
in contest,
'; , or digital-mode environments.
Built on the foundation of the popular FT
DX
9000 trans-
ceiver, and carrying on the proud tradition of the FT-
1000 series, the FT
DX
1200 provides up to 100 Watts
of power output on 66 B, CW, and F 0 Watts $0
carrier . ' igital 6 ignal 3 rocessing '63 is utili ] ed
throughout the design, providing leading-edge transmit-
ter and receiver performance.
For exceptional protection from strong signal interfer-
ence, the optional
5 F — Tuning . its may be connected
via the rear panel. The 5 F — Tuning . its provide extraor-
dinarily sharp selectivity and protect your receiver from
close-in interference on a crowded band.
, n the front end, you may select one of two 5 F pream-
pli ¿ ers, or ,32 , ntercept 3 oint 2 ptimi ] ation , providing
direct feed to the ¿ rst mixer. Three levels of 5 F attenua-
tion are available in 6-dB steps.

rating many of the features of the FT
DX
9000 , such as
9 ariable Bandwidth, , F 6 hift, and 3 assband Contour
tuning. $ lso provided are ' igital 1 oise 5 eduction, ' igi-
tal $ uto- 1 otch Filtering and a manually tuned , F 1 otch
¿ lter.
2 n the transmit side, the Yaesu exclusive Three-Band
3 arametric 0 icrophone (T uali ] er allows precise and
flexible adjustment of the waveform created by your
voice and microphone. The audio
$ mplitude, Center
Fre T uency, and Bandwidth are adjusted separately for
the low, mid-range, and high-fre T uency audio spectrum.
The transmitted bandwidth may also be adjusted.

for 9 oice modes, CW 3 itch control, CW 6 pot switch,

jacks are provided
one on the front and one on the rear
panel . The key jacks may be con ¿ gured independently
for paddle input, connection to a straight key, or com-
puter-driven keying interface.
Fre T uency setup is straightforward on the FT
DX
1200 .
( nter fre T uency directly for 9 F 2 - $ . 6 eparate keys are
available for band selection. ( ach band key provides
three separate 9 F 2 settings for three different parts of
each band. You may create three independent 9 F 2 set-
tings of fre T uency, mode, and ¿ lter for each band.
, n addition, memories are provided to store Fre T uen-
cy, 0 ode, , F ¿ lter selection, Clari ¿ er offset, and 6 can-
skip status. What ¶ s more, five T uick-recall “ 40 B”
memories can instantly store operational settings at the
push of a button.
The built-in antenna tuner includes 100 memories that
automatically store antenna matching settings for rapid,
later automatic recall.
Interfacing for digital modes is extremely simple with
the
FT
DX
1200 , thanks to the dedicated 5 TTY '$ T $
connection jack on the rear panel. 2 ptimi ] ation of the
¿ lter passband, '63 settings, carrier insertion point, and
display offset for digital modes, is possible via the 0 enu
programming system.
