This chapter introduces management tools provided to help you make full use of your machine.
This chapter includes:
•
Using CentreWare IS (Phaser 3160N only)
•
Using utility applications
•
Using SetIP program (Phaser 3160N only)
•
Using the Unified Linux Driver Configurator
USING CENTREWARE IS (PHASER 3160N ONLY)
Your CentreWare IS window that appears in this user guide may differ
depending on the machine in use.
If you have connected your machine to a network and set up TCP/IP
network parameters correctly, you can manage the machine via
CentreWare IS, an embedded web server. Use CentreWare IS to:
•
View the machine’s device information and check its current status.
•
Change TCP/IP parameters and set up other network parameters.
•
Change printer preference.
•
Set the email notifications advising of the machine’s status.
•
Get support for using the machine.
To access CentreWare IS:
1.
Access a web browser, such as Internet Explorer, from Windows.
Enter the machine IP address (http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx) in the address
field and press the Enter key or click
Go
.
2.
Your machine’s embedded website opens.
CentreWare IS overview
•
Status tab:
This tab gives you general information about your machine.
•
Print tab:
This tab allows you to print help pages, demo pages,
configuration pages and download a firmware.
•
Properties tab:
This tab allows you to view and change the network
environment. You can set things, such as TCP/IP, enabling Ether Talk
and so on.
•
Troubleshoot tab:
This tab allows you to print a menu map, PCL font
list and a cleaning page.
•
Support tab:
This tab allows you to connect to Xerox website or
download drivers by selecting Link.
USING UTILITY APPLICATIONS
To use this program, you need the following system requirements:
•
Windows. Check for windows operating system(s) compatible with
your machine. (See "System requirements" on page 21.)
•
Mac OS X 10.3 or higher
•
Linux. Check for Linux systems that are compatible with your
machine. (See "System requirements" on page 21.)
If you need to know the exact model name of your machine, you can
check the supplied software CD.
Understanding Status Monitor
If an error occurs while printing, the Status Monitor window appears,
showing the error.
You can also launch Status Monitor manually. Double-click the Status
Monitor icon on the Windows task bar (in Windows).
Or, from the
Start
menu, select
Programs
or
All Programs
>
your printer
driver name
>
Status Monitor
.
•
If you have already installed more than one Xerox machine, first
select the correct machine model you want in order to access the
corresponding Status Monitor.
Right-click the Status Monitor icon and select your machine.
•
The Status Monitor window and its contents shown in this user
guide may differ depending on the machine or operating system in
use.
The Status Monitor program displays the current status of the machine, the
level of toner remaining in the toner cartridge(s), and various other types of
information. You can also change settings.
Changing the Status Monitor Program Settings
Right-click the Status Monitor icon and select
Options
. Select the
settings you want from the
Options
window.
Using Printer Settings Utility (Phaser 3160B
,
Phaser
3160N
only)
Using the Printer Settings Utility, you can configure and check print
.
Some
machines
do not have this feature.

From the
Start
menu, select
Programs
or
All Programs
>
your printer
driver name

Printer Settings Utility

2.
Change the settings.

To send the changes to the printer, click the
Apply
button.
