Chapter 6 Sterilization
Sterilization must be done according to “Dental Equipment Disinfection of Medical Equipment
Technical Specifications”. The dental unit should be cleaned and sterilized after using for a
certain time.
6.1 Dental Chair
Considering the need of cleaning and sterilization, the dental chair surface is made of plastic
under seamless joint technology. The cushion can be cleaned and sterilized with leather
cleanser and medicinal alcohol. Do not use strong oxidant.
6.2 Saliva Ejector
The saliva ejector should be cleaned on the very day it is used. Put it into a vessel containing
2-3 liters clean water and make it work under the water to clean the dirt.
6.3 Handpiece
Please refer to the handpiece manual. Use steam sterilizer (set: 121
°
C, 0.1MPa, >30min) to
sterilize.
6.4 Other Metal Instruments
They (3-way syringe tube, spittoon flush tube, and gargling tube) should be sterilized after
discharging non-metal parts at the very day they were used, too. (see sterilization of
hanpieces.)
