Working with the pole saw
WARNING!
Risk of injuries or material damage
¾
Hold the pole saw in the working position
as shown in figure K.
¾
Ensure you are standing securely,
especially when working above head
height.
¾
Maintain the cutting chain away from the
body.
¾
Hold the tool firmly in both hands. One
hand holds the handle, the other hand
holds the operating arm in the encased
area or the optionally available middle
handle.
¾
Never stand directly under the branch
being cut.
¾
Never stand on a ladder or an unstable
platform.
¾
Always cut branches into pieces.
¾
Never work in dangerous positions
in which you could be hit by falling
branches or by branches bouncing back
up from the ground.
CAUTION!
¾
Do not saw any wood that is under
strain.
¾
Do not saw any shrubs or bushes.
Note
The pole saw is intended for sawing
branches and twigs. It must not be used for
tree felling.
The operating instructions contain important infor-
mation on how to work safely and professionally with
the pole saw and avoid danger. If, nevertheless, a
blockage occurs between the cut material and the
saw chain, switch off immediately. Wear cutresistant
gloves while removing the blockage. If it is neces-
sary to remove the guide bar (cutting bar), follow the
instructions as described in the assembly section.
After clearing the blockage and reassembly, a test
run must be performed. If, as a result, vibrations or
mechanical noises are identified, stop working and
contact an authorised service point. If this hazard
occurs frequently, we recommend attending a train-
ing course.
The pole saw must be checked carefully for wear
and possible damage before each use, or if it has
been dropped. If you detect damage, it must be
rectified immediately by you or an authorised service
point. Before starting up the pole saw, check for the
following:
Î
Damage to the device such as cracks on the
cutting bar
Î
Correct seating of the cutting bar
Î
Installation/direction of running, and a fault-free
(sharp) saw chain
Î
Saw chain tension (check and readjust the chain
several times if a new chain has been fitted)
Î
Functionality of the chain lubrication system

DANGER!
Risk of cuts due to kickback
Â
If kickback occurs, the chainsaw is sud-
denly and uncontrollably jerked towards
the user.
¾
Avoid contacting an object with the tip of
the bar.
¾
Exercise uniform pressure on the tool,
however do not use excess force.
Avoiding kickback, jumping or risk of slipping of
the chainsaw unit
Î
Always ensure that the area of the cutting bar
shown in figure
L
a does not come into contact
with wood or other solid objects.
Î
Maintain the body outside the extended pivoting
range of the tool.
Î
Position the cutting bar with the stop
[1]
for cross
cuts

b
.
Î
Only saw using a correctly sharpened and ten-
sioned chain.
Î
Always cut with the chain switched on.
Tree cut
M
Note

lower down and then working upwards.
Î
Cut the branch 10-15 cm from the base of the
branch, by sawing from below upwards for about
1/3 of the branch thickness
1
.
Î
Cut the branch slightly further out from the top to
the bottom
2
.
Î
Make a cut very close to the trunk
3
.
Removing the operating arm with permanently
installed power pack
