Chapter 3. Modem Configuration
3.1 Settings
The modem must be configured by the WM-I2 Term
®
software by configuring its parameters
which must be performed before the normal operation and usage.
Important!
The modem is operating during most of the time in stand-by mode. It is continously receiving the
incoming pulse signals and counting them. But the device will waken up only at the pre-configured
intervals (or after pushing the power switch for 10 minutes) for a short data transmitting period
to send the collected data to the server’s IP address. Afterall the wireless module will be turned
down and the WM-I2
®
will be going back to its normal operation (stand-by mode).
Therefore the sending of the configuration settings to the modem is only possible during this
short transmitting period. Thats why you need to run the configuration program on your PC and
keep it open and connected to the device on its serial link until the next transmitting, while the
modem will getting the new settings. After the sending you can disconnect the computer. (It is
also possible through TCP connection.)
For the configuration, the WM-I2
®
must be connected to the computer’s USB port by using the
serial wires of the USB UART adapter on the device. (Check steps of Chapter 2.6).
For the sucessful communication of the device, you have to configure the APN settings of the
active micro SIM card (as PIN code, APN, APN username and password) and the data storage
periods, NB-IoT data transmitting interval and mode of data sending (mode, protocol, server port,
server IP address).
Follow the next configuration steps, please.
