The iCER
This engine is equipped with the Intelligent Control by Exhaust Recycling
(iCER) system. This facilitates the recirculation of part of the exhaust gas back to
the engine. By replacing some of the oxygen with CO
2
, the stability of the engine
combustion is increased. This allows for an increase in the engine pressure ratio
and a resulting increase in combustion efficiency.
This engine can also be selected with iCER operation in diesel Tier III mode
(see
). In this case, exhaust gas recirculation
is used to reduce the NO
x
emissions.
