Entry Mode Commands

1F 0A D1

Enter Print Journal Entry Mode

In Print Journal Entry Mode, no commands other than the Journal Entry commands described below
are permitted. Any other command forces exit from Print Journal Entry Mode.

If there is no data in the journal flash bufer, the printer will not enter Print Journal Entry Mode.

If Auto Journal Mode or Direct Journal Mode is enabled, the printer will not enter Print Journal Entry
Mode. If the printer is already in Print Journal Entry Mode, this command does nothing.

Any format conditions in effect at entry to Print Journal Entry Mode remain in effect unless and until
superceded by a format command in the information printed from the journal flash buffer. This
functionality would be useful, for example, for printing from the user-defined character set, when the
command to select the user-defined character set was not originally sent with each line that went to
the journal flash buffer. Format commands cannot be sent while the printer is in Print Journal Entry
Mode.

At entry to Print Journal Entry Mode:



Any data in the Journal RAM buffer is written to the Journal Flash buffer.



The Journal Cut (described below) is disabled.



The pointers to the journal flash buffer are set to the end, past the most recent entry.
Subsequent Journal Entry commands change these pointers as described below.

Exit Print Journal Entry Mode

At exit from Print Journal Entry Mode, any format conditions in effect remain in effect. These can be
cleared by following the Exit Print Journal Entry Mode command with the Initialize Printer command:
0x1B 0x40.

While not in Print Journal Entry Mode, the Journal Entry Mode commands described below are
ignored.

Move to End of Journal (most recent entry)

This command moves the journal flash buffer pointers to the beginning of the last (newest) journal
entry. Suitable for journal entries stored in Auto Journal Mode.

1F 0A D4

Move to Start of Journal (least recent entry or first line)

This command moves the journal flash buffer pointers to the beginning of the first (oldest) journal entry
in the journal flash buffer. This is the same as the first line in the journal flash buffer. Suitable for
journal entries stored in either Auto Journal Mode or Direct Journal Mode.

Move to next Journal entry (towards more recent entry)

This command moves the journal flash buffer pointers to the beginning of the next journal entry. If the
pointers are already at the newest journal entry, this command moves the pointer to the end of the
journal flash buffer. Suitable for journal entries stored in Auto Journal Mode.

Move to previous Journal entry (towards less recent entry)
