6 Description and operating
6.1 General description
The booster is a compact installation that is supplied completely piped-up and ready to connect. The only
connections that have to be made are for suction and discharge and also the power mains.
Every accessory ordered is delivery separately.
The relevant instructions or standards must be observed for the connection to the public water supply mains.
Regulations from the water companies must be included where appropriate. Local conditions (e.g. a supply
pressure that is too high or fluctuates considerably and which might require the installation of a pressure relief
valve) must also be observed.
6.2 Description of the product
6.2.1 Mechanic and hydraulic installation components (Fig.1a):
The compact installation is mounted on a steel base frame with vibration absorbers (
pos.3
). It consists of a
group of 2 to 3 high pressure centrifugal non self priming pumps (
pos.1
), which are combined by means of a
supply manifold pipe (
pos.4
) and a delivery manifold pipe (
pos.5
).
A shut-off valve (
pos.6
) is mounted on the suction and discharge side of each pump, and a non-return valve
(
pos.7
) on the discharge side. A unit composed of a pressure sensor, pressure switch, air vent and a shut off
valve (
pos.8
) is mounted on the discharge manifold.
As an option, a low water protection device (not shown) shall be retrofitted on the suction manifold when
supplied from the public water mains or a float switch shall be mounted when supplied from a collection tank.
The control box (
pos. 2
) is mounted on the base frame by means of a bracket (
pos. 9
). All electric
components are delivered as ready-wired. These assembly and operating instructions only contain a general
description of the booster
6.2.2 High pressure centrifugal pumps (pos.1):
Different types of multistage high pressure centrifugal pumps are installed in the booster depending on the
intended use and the performance parameters required. The number of these pumps can vary between 2 and
4. The attached installation and operating instruction provides further information about the pumps.
6.2.3 Control box (pos.2):
Different control and regulation boxes of different constructions can be integrated and delivered to activate and
control the booster. The attached installation and operating instruction provides further information about the
control box.
6.2.4 Suction (pos.4) and discharge (pos.5) manifolds
Please find hereafter manifold diameters according to flows and number of pumps that compose the booster.
