4. Taking Measurements
4.1 General Notes
Before taking measurements, remove the protective cover (9) over the probes
and turn the unit on by pressing “FUNC.”. The symbol associated with the
currently employed measuring mode is displayed. To switch to another mode,
press “FUNC” repeatedly. The symbols in the display (
; ;
) and the
displayed measuring units change.
The unit is equipped with an auto-range function, the measuring ranges for
Ω
,
K
Ω
, M
Ω
, nF, µF etc. are set automatically.
To turn the unit off, press “FUNC.” for 3 to 4 seconds or use the auto-off func-
tion, which turns the unit off after 15 minutes.
4.2 Resistance Measurement
Ω
Please Notice!
•
When you use the unit to take measurements, never connect the probes
to a power source, this may destroy the unit.
•
Before taking measurements make sure capacitors within the measured
circuitry are discharged, otherwise the measured results may be incor-
rect. The unit compares the voltages measured with a known resistor
within the unit.
Measuring Procedure
1. Press the “FUNC.” button to turn the unit on. Press the function but-
ton repeatedly, until the resistance symbol
and the measuring
unit “M
Ω
” are displayed.
2. Place the resistor to be measured between the probes and read the
measured value from the display. The measuring range is set auto-
matically (M
Ω
, K
Ω
or
Ω
).
Please Notice:
•
When taking measurements above a maximum resistance of 1 M
Ω
it may
take a few seconds until a steady final value is displayed.
