message

the
root
bridge

the
switch

reconfigure
itself

root

two

devices

network
are
recognized

root
bridge,
the
devices
will
renegotiate
to
set
up

new

This
is
a
periodic
timer
that
drives

switch

“hello”
message
to
other
devices
on
the
network
to
check
if
the
topology
is
“healthy”.
The
“hello
time”
is
the
amount
of
time
the
root
has
waited
during
sending
hello
messages.

Time

This
value
is
the
time
that
a
port
waits
before
changing
from
Spanning
Tree
Protocol

bridge

served

a

‐
point
LAN
segment),

it
can
be
connected
to
two
or
more
bridges
(i.e.
it
is
served

shared
