7. Check the platen bar that the printer head rides on for any nicks. If it is ok, go on to the next step. If
it is damaged, replace it with a new one. To do so, rotate the grooved shaft clockwise until the printer
head is all the way to the left end of the shaft. Remove the platen bar by pulling up on the right side
of it and sliding it out from under the printer head (see fig.). Replace it with a new one by holding
down the spring loaded paper guide and sliding the new platen bar back under the printer head. Be
careful not to snap the pins on the ends of the platen bar.
