2.1

Intended purpose

SOMNO

vent

S is a bilevel unit used to treat

sleep-related breathing disorders.

•

SOMNO

vent

S generates two pressure

levels for inspiration (IPAP)* and
expiration (EPAP)*.

IPAP = Inspiratory Positive Airway
Pressure = during inspiration

EPAP = Expiratory Positive Airway
Pressure = during expiration

•

While asleep, the patient's airways are
splinted by the air pressure generated.

•

The air pressure is administered via a
nasal mask.

•

SOMNO

vent

S is designed for use for

adults.

Important!

SOMNO

vent

S can only reliably prevent

airway closure if the IPAP and EPAP values
prescribed by a doctor for the specific
patient have been determined in, for
example, a sleep laboratory.

The use of accessories such as humidifier,
bacteria filter and oxygen connection valve
can alter the reaction of the unit. If
accessories are prescribed to supplement
the unit, it may be necessary to reset the
unit's parameters.
