2.3 INSTALLATION
Proper installation of the 3HRV is essential to correct operation of the
system. The 3HRV is typically installed in a headend rack. There are
two different recommendations for setting up the system. One entails
receiving the reverse sweep signal at a standard reverse node com-
biner, and inserting the telemetry with a directional coupler (test
point) at the input of the foward combining network.
Alternately, to prevent from having to tap into the system an addi-
tional time, you may also insert the telemetry by connecting to the
output of the 3ST. The telemetry insertion directional coupler (DC
b) tap loss must be taken into account when setting the insertion level
of the telemetry signal.
