Follow this procedure when a jam or plug has occurred. Be aware that if spreading in freezing weather frozen
chunks could cause a jam.
Stop the tractor, shut off the tractor and put the spreader into
safe condition�

Apron / Beater
Moving parts are exposed, entanglement hazard
is present. Ensure engine is shut off and PTO
is disengaged when working in or around the
spreader.

1. Check to see if the beater or apron drive shear
pins have broken, replace if necessary. See
maintenance section for info on replacing shear
pins.
2. Remove manure from around the paddles and
inspect to determine what has caused the jam or
plug.
3. Remove the jam or plug and ensure the box is free
of hard or frozen chunks and foreign objects, start
the tractor at idle.
4. Slowly engage the PTO, if the paddles fail to turn,
disengage the PTO and shut off the tractor.
5. Inspect the apron drive and chain,
• Inside the box
• Undercarriage
• Sprocket, front and rear
6. Find the jam and remove, start the tractor at idle.
7. Slowly engage the PTO, if the paddles spin, bring
the PTO up to speed and continue spreading.
8. If the jam persists you may have to manually unload
the spreader to determine what is causing the jam.
