Three modes for base station selection are available:
1. Auto - This mode uses the default GSM base station selection mechanism. Use this default setting if
you don’t have any preference.
2. Poll - This mode enables the device to switch to a different base station at the interval specified. The
Base Station Polling List is the list of base stations that can be used. In principle, this list is the base
station neighbor list reported by the GSM module. The neighbor list is listing all available base stations
in the descending order of their signal strength. Additional selection conditions are defined by the
parameters listed in the table below.
Parameter
(GSM Base Station)
Description
Default Value
1. Maximum Polling
Channels
This sets the maximum number of channels in the Polling Channel List.
4
2. Channel Switching
Interval (m)
This defines the duration in minutes when the next base station switching
occurs. Other than a single value, a range can also be specified using the
format min-max where min is the minimum interval and max is the
maximum interval.
A random value in the range specified is then
assigned when a channel switching occurs which only occurs when the
corresponding channel is not in use.
30
3. White/Black List Auth
This parameter defines how to form the Base Station Polling List.
When this is disabled, the Base Station Polling List is taken directly from
the neighbor list.
When this is set to Whitelist, only the base stations numbers listed can be
chosen from the neighbor list. Please note that the numbers appear in
the Whitelist may not appear in the neighbor list.
When this is set to Blacklist, the base station numbers in the Blacklist will
not be chosen from the neighbor list.
