VDC1604 VISTA DOME CONTROLLER
DEFINING AN ALARM RESPONSE
Your VDC1604 has a versatile alarm system programmed via the menu system. Alarm programming is achieved using
the Installer menu.
In this example, a high level alarm response is to be defined. The alarm response is to be initiated from a Normally Open
contact connected to alarm input 1. The alarm mode shall be Timed with a 30 second dwell. Two active time windows are
to be set up that will disarm and arm the alarm system during the hours of 8.00 a.m. and 4.00 p.m. during the weekend;
and between the hours of 10.00 a.m. and 2.00 p.m. on Wednesday. The alarm output relay will be Normally Open (closing
on receipt of an alarm condition). Monitor 2 will recall camera 2 and monitor 3 will recall View 13. Monitor 1 will be
available for control purposes. The keyboard sounder will sound a short beep. The alarm response will be called Main
entrance.
Defining the Alarm input settings
1. Select a monitor.
2. Enter the menu system. Select
Alarm handling
from the main menu and
then
Input Settings
from the
Alarm handling
menu.
3. Select the
NO/NC
field for alarm input 1 and choose
NO
from the picklist.
4. Select
Previous menu
to save the changes and return to the
Alarm
handling
menu.
Defining the Alarm mode
1. Select
Alarm mode
from the
Alarm handling
menu.
2. Select the
Cancel
field and choose
Timed
from the picklist.
3. Select the
Timed alarm dwell
field and enter 030 using the number keys.
4. Select
Previous menu
to save your changes and return to the
Alarm
handling
menu.
Defining the Active time window
1. Select
Alarm Window Setup
from the
Alarm handling
menu.
2. Select the first entry in the Alarm time definition window.
3. Use the joystick and number keys to enter the
Off
and
On
times in 24
hour format.
4. Select the
Day
field and choose
WEND
(weekend) from the picklist.
5. Enter the correct parameters for the second time window by following
steps 3 and 4 above.
6. Select
Previous menu
to save your chnages and return to the
Alarm
handling
menu.
Note
: Times entered are inclusive i.e. Alarm 1 will be armed at 16:01
Defining the Alarm response
1. Select
Alarm response
from the
Alarm handling
menu.
2. Because monitor 1 is to be used as a control monitor, this response
needs to be defined as
AL 1
in the Response field.
3. Select the Priority field and choose
H
(High) from the picklist.
4. Select the first of the four
Active time win
fields and enter 1 using the
number keys. This corresponds to the first entry in the
Active time window
menu.
5. Select the second of the four
Active time win
fields and enter 2 using the
number keys. This corresponds to the second entry in the
Active time
window
menu. Leave the other two fields set to 0.
6. Select the
Name
field and press enter to invoke the Text edit screen. Insert
the name Main entrance and press enter to return to the
Alarm responses
menu.
7. Select the
Alarm o/p
field and choose
On
from the picklist. This ensures
that the alarm output is active.
