PROGRAMMING
The VDC1604 menu system allows you to customise the system to meet your specific requirements. There are two
levels of menu,
Installer
and
User
. When the operator enters the Installer password, the Installer menu system is
accessible. Conversely, when the User password is entered, the User menu system is accessible. The User menu has
fewer options than the Installer menu but they operate in exactly the same way.

ENTERING THE MENU SYSTEM
The menu system is entered by pressing the Menu
M
key for at least 2 seconds.
Note that a valid monitor (1 to 3) must be selected before menu access can be
gained. A screen showing the software version will be displayed. Press the
enter key. The menu access screen will now be displayed prompting for a
password.
Password Entry
Enter the password using the numerical keys, then press the enter key. The
password entered will depend on whether you wish to enter the User menu or
the Installer menu.
Note
The factory set default password for the Installer menu is 7, 8, 9, 0. The
default User menu password is 1, 2, 3, 4. It is strongly advised that you
change these passwords as soon as possible in order to maintain system
security. Passwords may be changed in the System settings Menu.
Once the password has been correctly entered, the Installer or User Main
Menu screen will be displayed.
Note: If a password is lost, a recovery system is available. See Appendix A
.
MENU NAVIGATION
The joystick is used to navigate the menu system. A field that can be edited is
shown in reverse video. In general, a menu item is selected and edited as
follows:
1. Use
Joystick Up/Down
movements to move up or down between fields
and/or menu items. The selected field is indicated by a cursor symbol

2. Press the
Enter
key (or Joystick right) to enter edit mode for the selected
menu item or field. The cursor will change from

to
+
to indicate that you
are in edit mode.
3. Then use either:
the
Joystick Up/Down
movement to select items from picklists, or
the
Numerical keys
to input numerical data
the
Joystick Left
to escape to the previous menu
the
Joystick Right
to perform an
enter
command
4. Press the
Enter key
(or joystick right) to exit edit mode. The cursor will
change from
+
to
4
