The conversion steps for program files are:

Explanation
1. copy new.out exec.out
Renaming the correct input file name for using
the “econvert” function
2. c:\ti\util\econv prog1
First conversion step – “prog1” is the program
name in camera memory.
3. c:\ti\util\scvt
Final conversion step – output file is: “adsp.msf”
4. copy adsp.msf c:\ti\myprojects\send\prog1.msf Renaming the “*.msf”- file (and moving into the
send folder)
Note:

The creation of *.msf files is required for serial and Telnet upload only!

Msf files cannot be uploaded by FTP. Using FTP, the linker output file (*.out file) is directly
uploaded into flash memory or MMC / SD.

No file conversion is necessary for FTP upload (this counts for all file formats).

The file size about doubles from an *.out to an *.msf file – however The additional information is
again removed when the program is saved to camera memory.

The conversion programs mentioned above are only for converting “*.out” files. Refer to the
VCRT documentation for further information on converting other file types.
8.3.2
Program uploading using TeraTerm
After establishing a connection with the camera via RS232 or Telnet, programs can be uploaded. As
described at the beginning of section 8, the shell command lo is used for uploading *.msf files into the
camera.
The following steps are required for *.msf file upload with TeraTerm:

Explanation
1. “$lo”
Calling the shell command “lo” without parameter activates the
file upload. Confirm with Return.
The camera sends “start address for file: xxxxxx” and waits for
activation of the terminal upload function (program specific).
2. Select “Send File” under the
“File” menu and browse for the
*.msf file to upload.
Terminal program specific. Refer to the VCRT documentation for
upload with ProComm.
During Transmission the terminal program window shows increasing rows of dots. If text lines are
displayed and “ERROR 07: illegal command call” then the file format is not recognized or the shell
command “lo” has been omitted.
