Functional principle of the backflow prevention device
During normal operation, the backflow valves are open. If the pressure switch registers backflowing water, the motor-driven flap is
closed, the display will show the message "Back pressure" and an alarm will sound every 10 seconds.
The use of drainage fittings is not possible during this time.
A battery-powered emergency power supply guarantees the functionality of the system even if the 230V power network fails. With
the emergency closing device, the system can be manually closed, irrespective of the motor-driven flap.
C
Example of installation - residential building in accordance with DIN EN 12056
The connection of the upper floor
to the ground pipe must take place between the backflow valve and sewer within the
building
– this is the only way to guarantee flawless function of the sewage system. So that drainage can be ensured in the long-
term, backflow valves must not be used as the central safety device of a building with drainage fittings installed above the backflow
level
– in case of backflow, the building would flood due to non-draining wastewater
.
Backflow prevention devices and their control units must be installed so that they can be reached and accessed at all times.
