Test the flail mower
◼
Start the tractor.
◼
Lower the machine horizontally, with the PTO shaft straight back in a place where there is no
loose sand or other material that could pose a danger to yourself, others, or the machine.
◼
Ensure that the machine flails do not get caught while rotating anywhere.
◼
While the tractor is idling, test the side shift function.
◼
Switch on the PTO. Slowly raise the speed until the PTO runs at 540 rpm.
◼
Check that everything works smoothly and correctly.
◼
Switch off the tractor and make corrections if necessary.

OPERATION
Ensure you understand all the information
described in Chapters ‘Safety’ and ‘Maintenance’ and
Assembling before operating the Flail mower.
STEP 1:
◼
With the Flail mower positioned on level ground, adjust the tractor lift arms so that the rotor
shaft aligns with the ground when lifted.
STEP 2:
◼
With the Flail mower hooked to the tractor, raise and support the mower with suitable wooden
blocks.
◼
Check the
skid’s
adjustment on both sides for the desired mowing height.
Ensure that the height adjustments on both sides are the same.
STEP 3:
◼
Raise the mower, remove the blocks and place the mower on the ground.
Step 4:
◼
Start the tractor. With the tractor engine at idle speed and the mower lifted off the ground,
engage PTO and slowly advance the throttle to 540 PTO rpm. Lower rpm can damage the Flail
mower if material jams and stops rotation.
STEP 6:
◼
Select a low gear for the tractor speed and begin to move forward. The tractor ground speed is
controlled by gear selection only and not by engine speed. As the tractor moves forward,
slowly lower the mower down. Allow the mower tines to engage the ground gradually.
