8.8 General Troubleshooting
This section can help the operator when a problem arises. It gives basic guidelines if something on
the heavy duty flail mower is not working correctly. If the procedures in this section do not solve
the problem, the owner should contact the Victory Service department for assistance.

The Flail mower is designed to work on an unplowed and plowed field. It is a simple and
reliable system that requires minimal maintenance.
In the following table, we have listed many of the problems, causes, and solutions to the issues
that you may encounter.
Problem : Possible Cause : Solution :
PTO shaft inclined
too much.
•
The Flail mower failed horizontal
level.
•
One side sway chain of the tractor is
too short.
•
Adjust the horizontal level of
the mower.
•
Adjust the chain.
PTO shaft damaged.
•
The direction is mistaken.
•
Grease deficient.
•
The angle of the PTO shaft is too
big or is gripped.
•
Re-assemble correctly.
•
Rinse the needle and pump
grease sufficiently.
•
Limit the rising position and re-
lock the position.
Noise in the gearbox.
•
The clearance between the two
helical bevel gears is too large.
•
Bearing injured.
•
Tooth of gear broken.
•
Adjust this clearance.
•
Replace bearing.
•
Replace gear.
Trouble rotation of
rotor shaft.
•
Gear or bearing injured or gripped.
•
There was no clearance between
the two helical bevel gears.
•
Out of shape of the left side plane.
•
Rotor shaft crooked or out of shape.
•
Rotor shaft twined with grass or
held soil seriously.
•
Replace gear or bearing.
•
Adjust the clearance of the
helical bevel gear pair.
•
Correct side plane.
•
Correct or replace cultivator
shaft.
•
Clear away grass or soil.
