Installation
Unpacking and Inspection
All Vicon equipment is tested and inspected before leaving the factory. It is the carrier’s responsibility to
deliver the equipment in the same condition as it left the factory.
Inspection for Visible Damage
Immediately inspect the cartons upon delivery. Make a note of any visible damage on all copies of the
carrier’s freight bill.
Make sure the carrier’s agent (the person making the delivery) signs the note on all copies of the bill. If the
agent does not have claim forms, contact the carrier’s office.
Inspection for Concealed Damage
As soon as possible after delivery, unpack the unit and inspect it for concealed damage. Do not discard the
carton or packing materials. If the unit is damaged, contact the carrier immediately and request forms for filing
a damage claim. Make arrangements for a representative of the carrier to inspect the damaged equipment.
If the equipment must be returned for repair, follow the Shipping Instructions at the end of this manual.
Surveyor4A Dome Components
The Surveyor4A camera dome units consist of an enclosure, an adjustable camera mounting bracket, a
mask, and a smoked lower dome. It includes a 4 x 4 electrical box for cable routing and mounting. The
camera/lens assembly and lower dome are packed separately.
Enclosure
The enclosure is a formed plastic housing that includes the camera mounting bracket and cable connectors.
The assembly is mounted into a 4 x 4 electrical box, which allows neat routing for all cabling. A safety cord is
provided on the inside for connection to the lower dome.
Camera Mounting Bracket
The camera mounting bracket holds the camera/lens assembly. The assembly is simply installed onto the
bracket with one self-locking nut. The camera/lens position can be manually adjusted.
Mask
The mask is a textured black polycarbonate plastic shell. It has a slotted opening for the camera. The mask
helps conceal the position of the camera. It has two ribs that align with the pan bracket to allow it to rotate
with the camera/lens assembly.
Lower Dome
The dome is an assembly comprised of a 6.44 in. (164 mm) diameter acrylic shell and a trim ring. The lower
dome (4.73 in., 120 mm diameter) has a smoked (gray) tint. There is a safety cord that connects the dome to
the enclosure. Refer to the Maintenance section of this manual for instructions on the care and handling of
the dome.
