Installation
5.1 Display instrument
For dimensions see chapter 9.
Using the template provided, cut out open-
ings in the instrument panel or bulkhead.
Attach the meter using the 4 threaded rods
and nuts provided.
Ensure that the seal fits correctly between
the meter and the panel or bulkhead.
5.2 Compass sensor / GPS receiver
5.2.1 Choosing a location
Each compass
is calibrated in the factory
so the more careful you choose the loca-
tion for the compass sensor the better the
result will be.
It is very important that the sensor is
mounted away from any material that is
likely to cause magnetic interference.
• A safe distance from external mag-
netic interference: 3 m (10 ft) from
VHF, RDF, loudspeakers, depth sound-
ers, engines, or power cables carrying
heavy current.
• 3 m (10 ft) from Radar and SSB equip-
ment.
• Externally mounted on steel vessels.
• Well protected from physical damage.
• Optimum positioning: As low as pos-
sible to minimise effect of pitching and
rolling of boat.
• Do not mount the compass near mag-
nets (card compass)
Should there be any doubt about the suit-
ability of mounting the sensor due to mag-
netic interference, a hand compass may
be used to determine any magnetic devia-
tion at the proposed mounting place.
The
GPS antenna
is located in the top of
the sensor. Please make sure that the an-
tenna always has an unobstructed view of
the sky.
