Moving the wheelchair and its user up or down a staircase by escorts
warning:
If possible this action should be avoided in order to prevent injury to you and/or your escort. Read and
follow the warnings to escorts. If you do not heed these warnings, it may result in falling or tilting and
serious injury to all involved.
1. Always get the help of two or more escorts when moving a wheelchair with the user in it up or
down a staircase.
2. Make sure the user is firmly seated in the wheelchair with his/her arms, legs or hands safely
out of the way of obstacles.
3. Recommended way of carrying:
a. escorts position themselves to the left and the right side of the wheelchair with
the user seated in it.
b. the escorts pick up the wheelchair by the bottom of the seat in front and back
c. the escorts lift the wheelchair carefully and try and find the equilibrium point of
the wheelchair with the user in it.
Detection gates
When passing through a detection gate, for instance in shops, it may react to your wheelchair by
sounding an alarm. In the construction of the wheelchair this possibility has been taken into account
and we tried to prevent this from happening. The wheelchair has actually been tested, but since there
are numerous brands of detection systems, and the circumstances vary, occasionally an alarm may be
set off.
Substrate
The wheelchair works best on a hard surface. Therefore try to avoid soft surface such as sand, mud
grass shell paths etc.
