5.2 Connecting Communications serial Ports
Use the supplied RS232 male-to-female DB-9 to DB-9 straight cables to connect Switch Ctrl A port to the Switch
Control A port. Repeat for B ports.
5.3 Connecting ethernet Control Ports
Prepare Ethernet cables for connecting the Ethernet Control A and B ports to the network that the IP addresses
of the ports are associated with. Only make the connection after configuring the IP address for the port.
5.4 Connecting the rf Ports
When connecting the RF input ports to the HFC network, take note of the following:
When connecting the F-connector on the cable to the RF connector on the
CX380X chassis, always use a torque wrench to set the tightness to 15 inch-
lbs. Do not simply hand-tighten the F-connectors. F-connectors that are too
loose can cause RF leakage. F-connectors that are too tight can damage the
RF port electronics.
Rear panels and connectors may be hot.
