4.3.3 Grounding

Provide grounding connector.

4.4 safety Guidelines

This section provides general safety guidelines to prevent injury during equipment installation and operation. It

includes the following:

y

Electrical Equipment Guidelines

y

Chassis Lifting Guidelines

Only trained and qualified personnel should install, replace, or service this

equipment.

This equipment must be grounded. Never defeat the ground conductor or

operate the equipment in the absence of a suitably installed ground conductor.

Contact the appropriate electrical inspection authority or an electrician if you

are uncertain that suitable grounding is available.

Do not work on the system or connect or disconnect cables during lightning

activity.

electrical equipment Guidelines

y

Always unplug the power cable before installing or removing a chassis.

y

Locate the emergency power-off switch for the room in which you are working. If an electrical

accident occurs, turn off the power immediately.

y

Do not work alone if potentially hazardous conditions exist.

y

Never assume that power is disconnected from a circuit. Always check. If an electrical accident

occurs, proceed as follows:

o

Use caution. Do not become a victim yourself.

o

Turn off power to the system.

o

If possible, send another person to get medical aid. Otherwise, assess the condition of

the victim and then call for help.

o

Determine whether the person needs rescue breathing or external cardiac compressions,

then take appropriate action.

Chassis lifting Guidelines

A fully configured CX380X weighs approximately 11 pounds (5 Kilograms). The chassis is not intended to be

moved frequently. Before you install the CX380X, plan chassis placement and ensure that your site is properly

prepared so you can avoid having to move the chassis later to accommodate power sources and network con

-

nections.

Whenever you lift the chassis, follow these guidelines:

y

Always  disconnect  all  external  cables before lifting  or moving the  chassis.

y

Ensure that your footing is solid, and balance the weight of the object between your feet.

y

Lift the chassis slowly; never move suddenly or twist your body as you lift.

y

Keep your back straight and lift with your legs, not your back. If you must bend down to lift the

chassis, bend at the knees, not at the waist, to reduce the strain on your lower back muscles.

y

Lift the chassis from the bottom; grasp the  underside  of the  chassis  exterior  with  both hands.
