Faults and Possible Remedies
In rare cases, it can happen that your hands-free unit does not function as you expect. Be-
fore consulting the Customer Service please read the operating instructions and go
through the following checklist because it may be possible to remedy an apparent mal-
function quickly.
Symptoms
Possible cause / remedy
After placing the mobile phone in
the holder, the ‘car’ symbol does not
appear in the usual way on the
phone’s display (only on certain
mobile phones). A display appears
on the LCD monitor. Memos can be
recorded.
Problems with the mobile phone holder.
• Remove the phone from the holder, check the contacts
and clean.
• Put the phone back into the holder.
If the problem persists, consult your authorised VDO Dayton
dealer.
After placing the mobile phone in
the holder, the ‘car’ symbol does not
appear in the usual way on the
phone’s display (only on certain
mobile phones).
The start screen does not appear.
The system does not respond to the
remote control.
• Take the phone out of the holder.
• Switch on the ignition.
• Place the telephone in the holder.
• Check whether the ‘car’ symbol appears on the phone dis-
play and the start screen appears on the LCD monitor.
If the problem persists, consult your authorised
VDO Dayton dealer to check the 12 V power supply.
The system no longer responds.
Communication between control unit and mobile phone.
• Take the phone out of the holder.
• Put the phone back into the holder.
The name was not recognised with
the voice dial function.
The name was not correctly entered previously.
• Listen to the list of names to check which have been
saved.
• If necessary, delete the name and enter it again.
When a new name is said, the “No
speech” prompt sounds.
Microphone connection defective.
• To check, record and listen to a memo.
If nothing can be heard during playback, consult your
authorised VDO Dayton dealer to check the connections.
The other person’s voice cannot be
heard during phone calls.
Loudspeaker not connected or connected incorrectly.
Consult your VDO Dayton dealer to check the connections.
The radio is not muted.
The control unit of the hands-free unit has not been con-
nected correctly to the radio input for the mute function.
Consult your VDO Dayton dealer to check the connections.
The system does not respond when
buttons are pressed when the
remote control is not in the holder.
The batteries are flat.
• Check whether the remote control functions in the
holder.
• Change the batteries in the remote control.
