Manage Perfecta 3600STP Printer Security
When you set up Web Services, the printer is in unlock mode. In unlock mode,
anyone who knows your printer's email address can print to your printer by just
sending a file to it. You should be careful about giving out your printer's email
address, as everything sent to that address may be printed on your printer. See
“Advanced Security Options” on page 2-26
for alternate security methods.
If you are the printer administrator, you can manage printer security or change
your printer status to lock mode by visiting the ePrint Center where you created
your ePrint account. You can also customize your printer's e-mail address and
manage print jobs from there.
Advanced Security Options
There are 3 methods you can use to secure your printer from unintended users
printing to your device: 1) Connect via Wi-Fi Direct, 2) Turn off Broadcast Mode
and connect to the printer manually, and 3) Connect the DC2300 and Perfecta
3600 to a private network.
Connect via Wi-Fi Direct
Connecting via Wi-Fi Direct provides a printer-generated password that you must
know or have access to before you can print to the 3600STP printer. See
“Configure DC2300 & Perfecta 3600STP via Wi-Fi Direct” on page 2-5
for details.
Turn off Broadcast Mode
When your printer is connected to the internet, it automatically "broadcasts" its
name on the network list. You can turn this option off to prevent unauthorized
users from connecting and printing to this device.
