Overload coupling
To absorb extreme resistances from the flail shaft without damaging the gearbox, a flexible element is mounted between
the gearbox and flail shaft. This also absorbs the alignment difference between the gearbox and flail shaft. The maximum
tolerance is 1 mm in line with the axes and a maximum angle of 1 ° degrees
Should it necessary to replace the flexible element after damage, proceed as follows.
•
place the machine unfolded on a flat surface
•
remove the protective cover
•
disassemble / remove the remaining (broken) bolts
•
remove the flexible element
•
check if the hubs, gearbox side and on the flail shaft are still good. Otherwise
replace it
•
check that the gearbox output shaft and / or flail drive shaft are not damaged.
Otherwise replace it
•
check that the shafts of the gearbox and flail shaft are properly aligned
•
fit the new parts
•
the shear bolts of the flexible coupling must be able to be mounted smoothly, otherwise the shafts are not aligned
•
mount the protective cover
1.5 Mechanical check-up
Every time before you take the machine in service the following items have to be checked:
•
service and traffic precautions items of the mower and the tractor
•
tightness of all bolts and nuts. Re-tighten if necessary
•
oil level in gearbox (chapter 1.7)
•
pré-tension of the Power-belt (chapter 1.8)
•
condition of cutting flails (chapter 1.9)
•
grease points (chapter 1.10)
1.6 Driving speed
Depending on quantity, size and character of vegetation and working conditions the recommended driving speed is 2
–
5
km./h. (1½
–
3 M.P.H.).
1.7 Gearbox

Before operating the machine and further at regular intervals, the following points should be checked:
•
Oil level:
he oil level is correct when the oil level just reaches the hole(red arrow) of the plug in
the cover.
•
Breather:
the breather(green arrow) should be free of obstruction. The cap must be slightly
compressible. Clean the breather by blowing through from the inside.
Renew oil after the first 50 working hours and further after every 250 working hours, but at least once a season.
To renew the gearbox oil handle as follows:
Run the machine until the oil is warm and remove the breather. Remove the drain-plug at the bottom side of the gearbox
housing and drain the old oil.

Collect the old oil, e.g. in a bucket, for environment friendly disposal

Refit the oil drain-plug and pour 1 litre diesel-oil through the breather hole in the housing. Clean the internal gearbox, by
washing with the diesel oil, by turning the flail rotor a few times by hand. Then
drain and collect
the dirty diesel oil and
refill the gearbox to required oil level and refit the breather.
Fill up only to the proper level, and always use the same oil. Gear-oil is advised, or SEA-120 in extremely warm
climates.
