- remove the spring housing
- add or take away as many spring washer as you like
- re-assemble all the parts in the opposite way
Mower is now ready for service.
1.4.4 Cutting height
You can adjust the cutting height by moving the upper bolts of the rear roller The
upper hole in the frame will give you the lowest cut ± 40 mm (1½ ") and the lowest
hole in the frame the highest cut ± 90 mm (3½").
How to handle:
-
un-tighten the 4 lock nuts, Det. 12, at both sides of the rear roller
- move the 2bolts, the nearest to the roller, one hole by one hole (left / right, left /
right) in one of the other holes in the adjusting plate until the wanted cutting
height is found
- re-tighten the lock nuts, Det. 12 ( 225 Nm, 1970 inlb) very tight
1.4.5 P.T.O. shaft
The P.T.O. shaft supplied with the flail mower, standard with overrunning clutch, has a retracted length of ± 1250 mm
(4'1").
This length is correct for most of the popular tractor sizes. It is strongly recommended to check the proper length of the
P.T.O. shaft before operating the machine and if necessary to shorten it according to the instructions attached to the
P.T.O. shaft.
Check the proper length as well in transport- as in work positions !!
Check th
e length of the overlap of the protection elements; this should be at least 50 mm (2”).
The guard tube of the P.T.O. shaft must be secured against rotation by the little chains.
Always speed up the P.T.O. shaft to the prescribed speed of 1000 RPM before starting to cut.
The correct speed is indicated on the gearbox cover.
Remark: Using an oversized tractor it is recommended to install an overload clutch. This should be adjusted at the
following value of:
- ZF2-150, -180, -210
→
1000 Nm
- ZF2-240
→
1330 Nm
1.4.6 Gearbox
Each time you take the flail mower in service you have to check the oil level of the gearbox. See chapter 1.6 how to
handle.
During transport from manufacturer to the end customer is in some occasions the breather replaced by a plastic plug. In
such a case this plug has to be replaced by the breather before the machine is taken in service. During transport the
breather is fixed to the drive shaft of the gearbox.
1.4.7 Transport
If the flail mower has to be unloaded / moved, use lifting equipment
which is suitable for the weight of the flail mower in question (see
technical specifications). The machine must be lifted with a lifting
strap on the pin for the top link coupling and the 2 lifting eyes.
During road transport, the machine is lifted by the
tractor's lifting device. It is strictly forbidden to
transport the machine on the road in a miter position.
