4.6 Oxygen toxicity Oxygen toxicity is calculated from depth values and the gas mixture. The toxicity
is dipslayed in 5% increments as a percentage of the maximum value tolerated
(O
2
clock), together with the symbol <CNS O
2
LIMIT>. This display is in the same
place as the ascent rate display.
Messages: An acoustic signal is sent if oxygen toxicity reaches 75%. The symbol
<CNS O
2
LIMIT> and the percentage value flashes continuously.
Response: As the value must no longer increase, go to a shallower depth if
necessary.
When oxygen toxicity reaches 100%, an acoustic alarm is sent every
4 seconds. <CNS O
2
LIMIT> and the percentage value flashes
continuously.
Response: Start ascent at once.
– During an ascent warning and if the partial pressure of oxygen drops below
0.5 bar the acoustic warning is suppressed.
– During the ascent, the display of the oxygen toxicity is replaced by the ascent
rate display. If the ascent is stopped, the display changes back to the indication
of oxygen toxicity.
