7.4 STRAINER
The strainer (page 10, fig. 1, item 3) should be cleaned periodically depending on the
local water quality. The frequency of cleaning should be determined locally as required.
7.5 ELECTRODES
As grit is used for cleaning the working electrode and the counter electrode, these wear
down gradually.
The electrodes should be replaced every 3 or 4 years. The reference electrode and
the KCL electrolyte should be replaced every year (chapter 7.2). In the case of
extended shut-downs, for example during the winter season of outdoor swimming pools,
the KCL electrode as well as the pH and Redox probes are to be protected against
frost.
The correct assignment of the measuring cables to the probes is shown on drawing
BZ-1145.
Refer to drawing F-90 604 for correct matching of measuring cables and
electrodes.
7.6 CHEMICAL AND MECHANICAL CLEANING
If there is a build-up of deposits in the flow-through assembly (BZ-1150/2-5/E, item 41)
or on PVC parts, they may be removed by cleaning with dilute hydrochloric acid
(concentration approx. 10 %, U-94 726).
CAUTION: Do not clean the working electrode and the counter electrode
chemically!
The two membranes (BZ-1150/2-5/E, fig. 2B, item 7) for the reference electrode cannot
be cleaned. Use a pair of pointed pincers to remove the membranes together with their
PVC body by gently pulling and turning, and to replace them.
Depending on the local water quality, the membranes should be replaced every 2 to 3
years.
