WARNING

In the event of a malfunction or abnormal operation, shut off the pump or pump unit
immediately to prevent a dangerous situation and/or damage (possibly severe) to the
pump or pump unit.
Inform to responsible persons. Determine the cause of the malfunction. Resolve the
problem before restarting the pump

Problem

Cause

Detection

Solution

Insufficient
vacuum

Leakage Suction
hoses/suction lines

Measure the vacuum with
the vacuum gauge and a
blind cover at the suction
side. This should be 8 or 9
meters. If not, then there is
damage behind the suction
line (see causes below)

Check the complete
suction line for leakage,
this may be caused by f.i.
inferior hose clamps or
missing gaskets. The hose
may also be porous or
cracked.

Defect vacuum
pump

Covers the delivery of the
vacuum pump by hand and
feel if sufficient air is
delivered.

Replace vacuum pump

Insufficient tension
on divisible belt
vacuum pump

Check the tension of the
divisible belt vacuum pump

Tighten divisible belt, with
tensioning slide rails
vacuum pump

Opened drain tap in
bottom pump house
or float chamber

Check whether the drain
tap concerned is closed

Close tap

Open ball check
valve because of dirt
or similar

Check ball check valve
through inspection hatch

Clean ball check valve

No or not enough
capacity

Blocked strainer
basket, lines and/ or
pump

Check strainer basket,
lines and pump

Clean strainer basket, lines
or pump house.

Blocked ball valve
by dirt or similar

Check ball check valve
through inspection hatch

Clean ball check valve

Impeller play set
incorrectly

Check impeller play, with
inactive pump

Set impeller play

Suction and/ or
delivery line too
small

Check the diameter of the
suction and/ or delivery
line

Fix the correct diameter
suction and / or delivery
line

Suction lift too high
or suction length too
long

Check suction lift or length  Lower the suction lift or

reduce the suction length

Vacuum pump does
not work

Low oil level

Check oil level

Refill oil
