4 Maintenance
4.1
Planning Maintenance
The Wendy is constructed in such a way that maintenance can
be kept to a minimum.
It is recommended to use the following maintenance plan:
Daily and weekly maintenance can be done by the users of the
Wendy.
Bi-Annual maintenance by a technical department.
The Annual service and possible repairs by OpeMed/United
Care through the so-called Periodic Inspection Agreement
(PIO).
If in doubt about the condition of the hoist, always
contact the TD or OpeMed/United Care.
4.1.1
Daily Maintenance
The following actions can be performed by users on a daily
basis.
The Hoist:
•
Check the status of the battery. Recharge if
necessary.
The slings:
•
Use a clean sling.
•
Check the condition of the sling.
•
Check the boning to ensure it’s in the correct
position if applicable.
•
Hang the sling out after use and air dry where
necessary.
4.1.2
Weekly Maintenance
The following operations can be performed by users on a
weekly basis.
The Hoist:
•
It is advisable to clean the hoist every week. It can
best be cleaned with household detergent and a
well-squeezed damp cloth.
•
Check the operation of the emergency stop.
•
Check that all moving parts move easily, without any
grating noise.
The slings:
•
Check whether the sling needs to be washed.
•
Check the sling for any damage to the belt or clips,
fraying of fabric, loose stitching and seams. If one of
these is observed, stop using the sling and remove it
from circulation and contact the manager / supplier.
Batteries
•
It is recommended to charge the batteries at least
once a week (even when it is not being used).
Check the readability of the serial number sticker, the
presence of a manual, quick reference card and logbook.
4.1.3
Bi-Annual Maintenance
The table below provides an overview of the maintenance that
the technical service can perform on the Wendy every six
months.
•
Visually inspect the sling thoroughly for fraying -
loose seams / stitching - damage, damage to clips, if
damaged, the sling must be rejected.
•
Check the operation of the emergency stop.
•
Try the emergency operation.
•
Thoroughly check the hoist for smooth movement of
moving parts.
•
The leg spreader must move without any grating
noise.
•
Check for any damage to plastic parts.
•
Check whether the wheels turn easily and whether
the brake works properly.
•
All bolts must be properly tightened and must not be
loose.
•
Check the hoist for paint damage; this may be the
result of possible deformations.
•
Check whether both batteries charge properly and
the housing is in good condition.
•
Check the cabling for visible damage.
•
Also check the battery charger for function and if
there is damage to the cables.
If the hoist does not meet one or more of the above
points, it must be temporarily put out of operation
and United Care contacted.
4.1.4
Annual Service and Maintenance
According to NEN7506, a hoist must be serviced once a year.
This must be done by United Care or another competent
authority. United Care offers you the possibility to have your
hoist thoroughly inspected once a year, through the Periodic
Inspection Agreement.
The next service date is on the service check sticker (see the
figure on the right). This is always on the hoist, near the serial
number plate. For more information about this you can
contact United Care.
The service check sticker indicates the date on which the next
Periodic Inspection must be performed on the Wendy.
Loadings must also be checked every year in
accordance with the applicable regulations.
