EN-39
As of 37.5°C (99.5°F) it is indicated with 10 short acoustic signals that there
is elevated temperature. (Fever alarm)
•
Note:
In order to achieve highest accuracy in subsequent measurements, please wait
for 30 seconds after each measurement.
•
If ear wax accumulates on the measuring tip this can lead to inaccuracies of
the temperature measurement or to a cross infection between different users.
•
After cleaning the measuring tip, please wait for 5 minutes before the next
use so that the thermometer achieves its operating temperature.
•
It is best to lay toddlers flat on their stomach with their head to one side so
that the ear shows in upward direction. With older children or adults it is
better to stand slightly sideward behind the patient.
•
Always measure the temperature in the same ear as the temperature values
can vary from ear to ear.
•
After sleep, please wait a couple of minutes before you measure the ear
temperature.
•
In the following situations it is recommended to perform three temperature
measurements in the same ear and to take the highest measured values of
them:
•
Newborns in the first 100 days.
-
Children under three years or patients with endangered immune system,
in which case the existence or non-existence of fever can be decisive.
-
Users should practice the correct use of the infrared ear thermometer until
they get acquainted with the unit and receive consistent measured values.
-
To avoid incorrect measurements:
8.
Measurements taken on surrounding tissue of the acoustic meatus result in lower
measured values and can cause an incorrect fever diagnosis.
Please refer to the chapter „Temperature measurement“.
This thermometer was clinically tested and turned out to be safe and precise if
used according to the operating manual.
While you are holding the ear in its position, insert
the measuring probe into the acoustic meatus. Press
the start button when the thermometer is placed on
the point of measurement.
•
Pull the thermometer out of the acoustic meatus.
The LCD display indicates the measured temperature.
•
For this reason, please provide for a clean measuring probe after each
measurement. Please follow the instructions in the chapter «Maintaining the
unit».
Keep pressing the button as long as the «beep»
signal appears. This signal confirms completion of
the measurement.
Important note:
Press the start button only if the thermometer is finally placed on the point of
measurement. Otherwise the taking of the core temperature could be missed
due to the quick measuring process.
