5.4. Adjusting the working depth of the tines
The depth of each tine can be adjusted individually. The
depth is controlled by the pin setting in each of the tine
clamps. Each one of these pins is secured by a lynch pin.
Before adjusting the tine depth, first put the tine section out
of working position (see chapter 10.2), put the machine on
solid ground and switch off the tractor engine.
- First remove the lynch pin.
- Grab the tine leg firmly with one hand. At the top of
the tine leg there is an eye that should be used for this.
- Remove the pin from the tine clamp with your other hand. Attention! The weight from the
tine will transfer from the pin to your hand, so make sure to grab the tine firmly.
- Carefully slide the tine to the desired working depth, and put the pin back in the tine clamp.
Secure it with the lynch pin.
Watch your fingers while adjusting the tines! Wear safety gloves while making these
adjustments.
Be very cautious of the edges of the discs when you are positioned near or inside the machine
frame!
5.5. Setting the break-back pressure of the tines
The MULTIDISC XL VARIO allows the user to change the break-back pressure of the tines to
adapt to soil conditions.
While determining the break-back pressure value to be used, keep in mind that the primary goal is
to protect the tines and machine from damage resulting from foreign objects in the field, such as
stones. The break-back pressure should thus be as low as possible, while still allowing you to
work efficiently with the machine. So always start with a low break-back pressure, test these
settings, and increase the break-back pressure only if required.
Use the following procedure.
- Put the tines in working position. See chapter 10.2.
- Check on your machine how many tines are mounted per tine beam. Look up the
recommended starting break-back pressure in the following table.
- Now adjust the relief valve on the machine to read this value on the pressure gauge.
