Fitting the sanding pad & sanding sheets
1. Lift the Keyless Change Lever (4) and push forward (Fig. III) then loosen the Flange (12) by
rotating the lever anti-clockwise (Fig. IV). Rotating the Keyless Change Lever in a clockwise
direction will tighten the flange (Fig. IV)
Notes:
• If the accessory is open ended, the Flange can be loosened partially to fit the accessory
(Fig. V)
• If the accessory has a closed end, the Flange will need to be loosened and removed from
the multi-tool to fit the accessory (Fig. V) before re-inserting the Flange. A small amount of
finger pressure on the Flange is necessary when first tightening
• Sanding pad accessory will have the same mounting holes as a blade or scraper and the
same installation method will apply
2. Align the accessory holes with the buttons on the Flange (Fig. VII no. 1&2), hold the
accessory on the head, ensuring the buttons are aligned, and rotate the Keyless Change
Lever clockwise to tighten the Flange (Fig. IV)
Note:
The accessory can be aligned with the buttons at the desired angle before tightening
the flange (Fig. VII no. 3).
3. Close the lever down to the lock position on the multi-tool (Fig. IX)
IMPORTANT:
Ensure the locking tabs are facing the correct way when locking the lever. If
after tightening the flange the tabs are facing the wrong way (Fig. X), move the lever to the
middle position, then rotate the lever vertically until the tabs are facing the locking slots on
the multi-tool (Fig. X).
4. To remove the blade/accessory, repeat steps 1–3 and remove the sanding pad during step
2 (Fig. VII no. 1)
5. Select the required sanding sheet for your intended task (see ‘Selecting the right grade of
sanding sheet’ below)
6. The sanding pad and sanding sheets use a hook and loop system for attachment. To mount
the sheet, line up one corner of the sheet with a corner of the sanding pad and gradually
push the rest of the sheet onto the pad, checking alignment as you do so, until the sheet is
fitted correctly (Fig. XI)
7. Firmly press the multi-tool with the installed sanding sheet against a flat surface and briefly
switch the tool ON. This provides good adhesion and prevents premature wear
Note:
If one point has become worn after use, carefully pull off the sanding sheet, turn it 120°,
and re-install following steps 6 and 7.
Selecting the right grade of sanding sheet
• Sanding sheets are available in a variety of different grades: coarse (60 grit), medium (120
grit) and fine (240 grit)
• Use a coarse grit to sand down rough finishes, medium grit to smooth the work, and fine
grit to finish off
• Always use good quality sanding sheets to maximise the quality of the finished task
• It is advisable to carry out a trial run on a scrap piece of material to determine the optimum
grades of sandpaper for a particular job. If there are still marks on your work after sanding,
try either returning to a coarser grade and sanding the marks out before recommencing
with the original choice of grit, or try using a new piece of sandpaper to eliminate the
unwanted marks before progressing to a finer grit to finish the job
Installing the Auxiliary Handle
• The Auxiliary Handle (10) can be fitted to either side of the multi-tool
• Screw the Auxiliary Handle into the desired Auxiliary Handle Hole (9)
• The Auxiliary Handle can only be installed on the opposite side of Dust Extraction Port (3), if
installed (see ‘Fitting the Dust Extraction Collar’ for configuration instructions)
Operation
WARNING
: ALWAYS wear adequate personal protection equipment, including eye, hearing
and respiratory protection, when working with this tool.
WARNING
: Anti-vibration gloves should be worn when operating this tool, to protect users
from the effects of vibration produced by the tool.
Switching ON & OFF
Note:
When the multi-tool is switched ON, it will also switch ON the Work Light (11). When the
multi-tool is switched OFF, it will switch OFF the Work Light.
1. Hold the tool firmly by the Grip (6) with the thumb over the ON/OFF Switch (5)
2. To switch the tool ON, slide the ON/OFF Switch forward until it locks
3. To switch the tool OFF, slide the ON/OFF Switch backwards until it locks
WARNING
: Allow the tool to reach the required speed before making contact with the
workpiece.
WARNING
: Motor vents allow heat generated from the motor to escape the body of the
tool and must not become blocked. Dust, wood chippings and swarf can block the motor vents
and cause the tool to shut down. Swarf created when cutting metal can also cause permanent
damage if it enters the tool. Do not allow dust, wood chippings and swarf to build up. Use a
vacuum cleaner to keep the work space clean, especially in confined areas, and when working
with harmful substances.
WARNING
: DO NOT inhale dust. Wear adequate breathing protection. Some dusts may be
toxic - especially from artificial composite materials.
Adjusting the tool speed
• The oscillating speed of this multi-tool can be adjusted using the Variable Speed Dial (7)
• Change the speed while the motor is running
1. To increase the tool speed, turn the Variable Speed Dial to a higher number setting
2. To decrease the tool speed, turn the Variable Speed Dial to a lower number setting
Note:
Adjust tool speed to best suit the work carried out, and to adapt to material
requirements. Also refer to the accessory manufacturer’s instructions, with regards to tool
speed selection.
Sawing
• Use a higher oscillating speed
• Ensure the saw blade is sharp and in good condition
• DO NOT use saw blades that are damaged or deformed in any way
• When sawing light building materials, follow the recommendations of the material
suppliers
• Apply plunge cuts to soft materials ONLY, for example wood, plasterboard etc.
• If using saw blades not designed for cutting metal, ensure there are no nails or screws
embedded in the workpiece. If necessary, remove embedded objects or use metal cutting
saw blades instead
Sanding
• Use a higher oscillating speed
• The removal rate and the sanding pattern are determined by the type of sanding sheet, the
pre-set oscillation rate and the applied pressure
• Pay particular attention to applying uniform sanding pressure; this increases the working
life of the sanding sheets
• Intensifying the sanding pressure will not lead to an increase of the sanding capacity, but to
increased wear of the machine and premature wear of the sanding sheet
• For precise on-the-spot sanding of edges, corners and hard-to-reach areas, it is also
possible to work only with the tip or an edge of the sanding plate
• A sanding sheet that has been used for sanding metal should not be used for sanding other
materials
• Regularly brush down or vacuum the surface being sanded to ensure the sanding sheet is
in direct contact with the surface
Scraping
• Use a lower oscillating speed
• On soft surfaces (e.g. wood), work at a flat angle and apply only light pressure so that the
scraper does not cut into the surface
Multi-tool usage tips
• Avoid prolonged usage at very low speeds
• The multi-tool may become hot at low speeds. If this occurs, run the multi-tool with no load
for 2–3 minutes to cool the motor
• Always keep the blades sharp
• Ensure the workpiece is clamped or held firmly to prevent unwanted movement. Any
workpiece movement may affect the quality of cut or sanding finish
• Ensure the tool is ON before connecting with a workpiece and always disconnect from the
workpiece before turning OFF
• NEVER allow the sandpaper to wear away; this will damage the sanding pad
• The guarantee does not cover sanding pad wear
• Do not use excessive force; this will reduce the working efficiency of the multi-tool and may
cause the motor to overload
• Replace accessories regularly to maintain optimum working efficiency

Maintenance
WARNING
: ALWAYS disconnect from the power supply before carrying out any
maintenance/cleaning.
General inspection
• Regularly check that all the fixing screws are tight. They may vibrate loose over time
• Inspect the supply cord of the tool, prior to each use, for damage or wear. If the supply cord
is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or similarly qualified
persons in order to avoid a hazard. This advice also applies to extension cords used with
this tool
• This tool requires no additional lubrication or maintenance
