Use the screw you removed from the expansion slot in
Step 5 to secure the adapter in place.
8. Replace the computer’s cover. Securethe coverwith the mounting screws

You have now completed the installation of your new graphics adapter
on your system. Before

Connecting the
Monitor
The adapter offers
a 15
pin
analog connector. When
you
connect your
monitor to the
adapter,
be sure you have the right cable and cable
connector.Fixedfrequencyanalogmonitorscome equippedwith a 15 pin
connector. Variable frequency analog or analog/digital monitors will
require
a 9
to
15
pin cable connector.
Warning:
Connectingor disconnectingyour monitorwhile your system
and monitor are powered
on
may cause damage to your VGA adapter.

Your monitormust be capableof displayingthe mode you choose.Table

Note that the color
palette, i.e., the total
number of possible colors to
choose
from, is
262,144 in all
modes except for monochrome modes
where
the
color palette

and
the
monitor phosphor color. For
example,
in
mode 5E ~800x600256

the
total
colors available for
display on the
monitor at
one
time
is 256
different colors from a palette
of 262,144.
