Place the ember strips on
the grate as shown in this
illustration. The front
strip should hang half
way over the burner.

grate. Position the logs
so the rear corners rest
against the log stops.

Preparing the Metallic Wool Ember Strips (Optional):
The metallic wool comes in a single piece. Stretch the wool
as thin as possible (nearly transparent) to form three strips
of the following sizes:

Tuck the front of the ember strip down, behind the burner with a
screwdriver. Make sure the mat of ember wool is not over the burner
holes. Tuck it behind the burner tube if necessary.
Note how only a few
“whiskers” are over
the burner holes.
Embedding Embers into the Front Log (optional)
Repeat this process to embed several
fibers into the log material.

Metallic Wool
Fibers
Pull off a thin mat of metallic wool. Place it in front
of the front log directly above the front burner. Use
a small pocket knife or micro screwdriver to pierce
the log and “embed” the metallic wool fibers into the
log material (pierce the log approximately 1/8”).
Pull the material away to leave a few strands
embedded into the log.
