Install and tie up the
shafts
You will need the shafts you built earlier, the precut lengths of texsolv, and the bag of anchor pins.
On a 16 shaft loom, we like to install the shafts from back to front. On 24 and 32 shaft looms, we often install
the back half first and then go 12 or 16 forward. There is no general rule here, whatever you feel is most
comfortable for you.
Take one shaft and loop a piece of texsolv around one end of the wooden shaft bar –
this will be your left
shaft side. Make the loop around the bar a few inches and secure it at the end with an anchor peg.
Holding the shaft inside the loom, take the other end of the texsolv and loop it OVER the left side pulley of
shaft 24 (if you have a 24 shaft loom).
With one person holding the shaft level, slide the end of the cord all
the way over to the right side.
The person on the right side should take the end of the texsolv and slide it up under the bottom pulley up
the side of the loom and over the top pulley and pull it until it reaches about halfway between the right end
of the loom and the right side of the computer assist box. At that point, make a loop in the long texsolv cord
coming up from the pulleys.
