5.6 Safety
Attention
The safety of any system incorporating the equipment is the responsibility of the assembler of
the system.
All statements regarding safety of operation and technical data in this instruction manual will
only apply when the unit is operated correctly as it was designed for.
The Chrolis must not be operated in explosion endangered environments!
Do not position the device such that operation of either On/Off switches is difficult.
Do not obstruct the air ventilation slots in the housing!
This precision device is only serviceable if returned and properly packed into the complete ori-
ginal packaging. If necessary, ask for replacement packaging.
Refer servicing to qualified personnel!
Only use the device in closed rooms.
Changes to this device can only be made using components supplied by Thorlabs and spe-
cified in chapter “Ordering Codes and Accessories”. The use of alternative components not
supplied by Thorlabs is not permitted.
This device does not contain any poisonous or injurious substances that may be liberated from
the equipment. For more information, please see the RoHS statement.
The CHROLIS housing will not overheat. Heat generating modules are temperature controlled
such that the device shuts off prior to overheating.
Please note that this product is not suitable for household room illumination.
Attention
The mains cable may not be connected to inadequate mains lines according to the specifica-
tions in
Technical Data . Prior to applying power to the Chrolis, make sure that the protective
conductor of the 3 conductor mains power cord is correctly connected to the protective earth
ground contact of the socket outlet! Improper grounding can cause electric shock resulting in
damage to your health or even death!
All modules must only be operated with the supplied duly shielded connection cables.

Note This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class A digital
device, pursuant to part 15 of the FCC Rules and meets all requirements of the Canadian Inter-
ference-Causing Equipment Standard ICES-003 for digital apparatus. These limits are de-
signed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference when the equipment is op-
erated in a commercial environment. This equipment generates, uses, and can radiate radio
frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instruction manual, may
cause harmful interference to radio communications. Operation of this equipment in a residen-
tial area is likely to cause harmful interference in which case the user will be required to correct
the interference at his own expense.
Users that change or modify the product described in this manual in a way not expressly ap-
proved by Thorlabs (party responsible for compliance) may impair the protection provided by
the equipment and the user could void the user’s authority to operate the equipment.
